Malia has been teaching water safety skills and enhancing young swimmers strokes since 2018. She was raised in Northern California but her passion for Marine Ecosystem Conservation took her south to Santa Barbara. At UCSB, Malia completed a bachelors in Marine Science and started SCUBA Diving for research and pleasure.
She has since moved to Oahu to continue her education in the sciences. Malia is currently pursuing an advanced degree at UH in Science Communication and Education. Through the years she has continued to further her water safety teaching skills and has developed a strong love for helping swimmers, of all ages, master their fears and find peace and joy in the water.
Malia teaches drowning prevention and safety skills, later moving towards basic strokes, and eventually, confident advanced swimming. She had a disabled younger sibling and has developed advanced experience with disabled children.
Now at Olo Loa Swim Academy, Malia intends on bringing her skills to a new space and helping the future swimmers of Oahu find their love of swimming and all the joy it can bring.
